Mayoral Race in South Bend

PhotobucketPart of being a good real estate investor is keeping up-to-date with the political scene in your investment areas.  Right now, the mayoral race in South Bend is taking place, and one candidate in particular has really sparked my interest.  His name is Pete Buttigieg and he is 29 years old.  I am going to be 29 years old this summer, and what Pete has accomplished in his life is a true inspiration to me!  Pete went to Harvard and is also a Rhodes Scholar.  He recently won the Democratic Nomination in South Bend.  I am so interested to see what happens with this election.  Having a young person in office could definitely bring changes to South Bend.  No matter what your political stance, I think Pete’s website it worth checking out.

Pete wrote the following message on his website:

“South Bend needs a fresh start.  We need an environment in our city that attracts businesses and creates jobs. We need stronger schools and safer neighborhoods. We need to offer user-friendly services and utilities without wasting taxpayer money. We need to take advantage of our location so we are better connected to the region and world, both physically and economically.

In the private sector, I worked with senior business leaders on major decisions related to economic development, business strategy, energy, and logistics. This work took me around the country and the world, including to Iraq and Afghanistan.

With your help on our campaign, I believe we can move these ideas forward and make South Bend an even better place to call home.”

Do you follow the politics of the areas that you invest in?  How have different political leaders affected your business?
